Ready for Halloween...almost

To say Halloween is my husband's favorite holiday would be an understatement. If you know him, you know he lives for the month of October and I have to say it's rubbed off on me too! We only watch scary movies the ENTIRE month of October and we also have our house decorated to the point where you would expect us to have a house full of kids! Seriously.

So I had to take down all of the warm and cozy fall decorations that I mentioned in the previous post here and replace them with this:

We actually had most of the decorations left from last year, but we got the rest from Michael's last weekend (all Halloween decor was 30-50% off, and of course I also had a 20% coupon to use). Matthew's Steven King books and other scary ones came in handy to use for props.

Now all we have to do is carve pumpkins and hang our ginormous spider outside! (yes, ginormous is my favorite made-up word) Here is how it looked last year:

So now I've just got to talk Matthew into hanging it again so the house will be ready for all of the Trick-Or-Treaters this weekend, or Monday, whenever they come! :)

Happy Halloween!

When will it rain again??

I'm not going to lie, I am absolutely loving this beautiful fall weather we've been having! I mean, it's gorgeous today! But I'm actually hoping it will rain soon. Why, you ask? Because I got new rain boots! :)

I have been eyeing some Hunter boots for well over a year now (I couldn't tell you how many times they've been in my shopping cart on Zappos, haha). Well I finally bit the bullet last week and ordered them!

I love how great they look with skinny jeans! So my big decision was deciding whether I wanted black or a fun color. I finally decided on Aubergine so that I can wear them with black or brown.

Well, my plan all along was to order these from Zappos since they have quick service and free shipping. But they didn't have my size in this color :(

So I searched online and found them at Bloomingdale's at their original price of $125. However, I found a coupon on retailmenot  to save 20% off and they also had free shipping. Score! So I ended up paying $100 total for my lovely new rain boots! :) FYI: if you haven't used retailmenot to find awesome coupons, you're really missing out.

Now, I'm patiently waiting for it to rain so I can finally wear them. (I never thought I would be wishing for rain, haha!)

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! I'm looking forward to going to Birmingham for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure with the family!

Happy Friday!

Master bedroom...in progress

So I just want to share our new bedding that I'm in LOVE with! I think it really complements our bed, which was a great craigslist find. I ordered it last week from Pottery Barn - it's the organic Deirdre duvet and shams. I already had the euro pillows and throw pillow (stolen from the guest bed) so I picked up the throw from TJMaxx. The best part is that I ordered it last Saturday and it arrived on Monday! More pictures of the room to come, but here's the bedding:

Remember those lamps from this post - that project really worked out and we love them on our dark wood nightstands. My next purchase for this room is going to be a large (probably 8x10) jute rug and some curtains. Oh, and a little side note, we decided to take our little casa off the market, so no more trying to sell it, which is a relief! :)

Happy Tuesday!

Fall Mantle!

So I mentioned in yesterday's post that this $10 purchase was the inspiration for my new fall mantle.

I knew I wanted something light and airy but very fall-ish and cozy too. Here are some ideas that I pinned:

Well the Mr. earned lots of points by taking me to Michael's Saturday morning (this is probably his LEAST favorite store ever, haha). I got some faux wheat, a cream pumpkin, wreath and harvest-colored ribbon, all for less than $20 since I used my 40% off coupon!

We were showing our house to a potential buyer and I decided that I wanted to have the new fall mantle in place for that, so in less than 20 minutes the mantle went from this:

To this:

I still want to add some color and probably move things around but I'm happy with it for now! I'm thinking about making a bunting similar to these:

And isn't this fall foliage awesome??

Well that's all for now! :)
